Counterpoint is a quarterly independent magazine featuring original writing and illustration. Each issue has a unique theme which contributors respond to with their own ideas, resulting in an eclectic array of quality content.
Previous responses have included an article about LGBT+ package holidays, a murder mystery party, and an essay about baths.
We pride ourselves on featuring brilliant illustrators, and were recently shortlisted for Stack's Best use of Illustration award.
Based in Edinburgh, Counterpoint is a two-person team and is designed, printed and produced by editors Sam Bradley and Bethany Thompson. Counterpoint began as an online publishing project in 2013, as a platform to celebrate the work of new writers and illustrators. In 2015 we made the transition to a print-first magazine, and are now thrilled to have stockists in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Manchester, Nottingham, London and Amsterdam.
Counterpoint is a labour of love. Each issue is hand-bound and risograph printed using a three-colour palette, with quirks of printing that mean each copy of the magazine is unique.
We're always looking to add to Counterpoint's revolving cast of talented writers and illustrators.
